I miss her soft warm feathers, her singing voice, and her annoying bark

It hits you when you come home and say, "Hi ois!" or before you leave and you say, "I'll be back, ois! Love you!" and the empty cage greets you that a twenty year habit is hard to break. The tears push against my eyes, unable to fall. And I realize when something unrelated happens and I am overwhelmed just how deep the loss is. I'll never forget her smell, her softness or her love of potato chips. How easily we take for granted a simple presence in the room. I am truly alone now.

I know I told you once before on aim, but still, I'm sorry about the loss of your bird. A 20-year habit that's to be broken. . . that's something when it comes to a pet that's died.
