Thank God for Snow Days!

So. Last night I went to the Caucus fiasco. We got there a half hour before the doors opened and the line was horrible. It wrapped around the church completely, doubled over once, wrapped around the parking lot, and then went down the street. It was insane! We stood outside in the freezing wet for at least an hour. I couldn't feel my toes by the time we finally got inside. Apparently they weren't expecting so many people...(to which we were all wondering since we've suffered through Bush for eight years. Of course we want change!) They were discussing putting us into three different locations at one point, but I'm not sure that ever happened. Once we got inside we got to register (since I had not affiliated before) and they ran out of forms for people to register on. Someone had made extra copies once they said, but they ran out of those before the end. In order to get us inside and let us vote, they began having us sign and leave. So the caucus turned into a primary. I hope the state figures out that a primary is more logical and starts to do that. As it was, it still took forever. Annoying, but I'm glad I went. They eventually shut down the street in front of the church to accommodate the masses of people crossing.

I actually felt that I had done something politically to try to effect change. It was a nice feeling. I disagree with so much of the Bush administration and I'm so frustrated with people who didn't vote that day, not because they couldn't but because they didn't want to get up early or stay in line in the evening. I mean it's the freakin' president! It's an important election. Me may joke that the president has no real power, but the truth is that the administration that forms in office as a result of the election does effect us. That's apparent from the mess we have today thanks to our wonderful commander and chief.

However, I decided at about 4:30 that I was not going to school today. I started running a fever last night and I woke up with a headache and sore throat. I never run a fever! At the time school had not been canceled, but it was soon after. I'm going to go back to bed. I really couldn't afford to use another sick day so I'm glad to have the day off. I'm supposed to teach tonight, but I may end up canceling those lessons as I have to go to school tomorrow for the clinician. Joy.
